After years, I opened the back door this morning, cool air and birdsong drifting in around my feet.
After so many todays of saying “no, sorry but no”, I stepped outside and put out some crumbs.
I looked up and let today’s morning sky be noticed, let it come inside.
Only ever a day old, only ever a moment old am I.
It’s only ever been today, only ever been these eyes, this heart.
Today becomes today becomes today, never departing from here.
